PRODUCER PROFILE
The Marion estate has been in the hands of the Campadelli family since 1986. Based in the valley of Marcellise—just outside of the Classico zone of Valpolicella it is, relatively speaking, somewhat new to the winemaking scene. Stefano Campedelli and his wife, Nicoletta Foornasa, began bottling in 1995, nine years after purchasing the estate. These are elegant, classically styled Valpolicella, with layers of dark fruit throughout. Their growing recognition is certainly well-deserved.
VINEYARD & VINIFICATION
Clay and limestone – pH 7.80-8.50, organic fertilisation every four years, using microelements as required. From grapes harvested during the month of September and placed on bamboo tables (arele) and wooden plateaux until mid December/beginning of January in well ventilated rooms, without using air conditioning or dehumidification systems. The grapes are pressed in stainless steel equipment and fermentation lasts approx.40/50 days. The technique used includes natural yeasts, racking, punching-down and ageing in 350 litre oakbarrels from Slavonia for about 36 months.
