TASTING NOTES
Radiating the warmth and depth of southern Sicily, this full-bodied red wine offers a bold yet refined reflection of the island’s essence. Rich aromas of cassis and a whisper of vanilla greet the nose, delicately interwoven with traces of wood smoke. On the palate, it reveals a generous, fruit-forward profile, unveiling layers of ripe cherries and dark berries that lead into a smooth, lingering finish.
PRODUCER PROFILE
‘Il Folle’ in Italian means the mad one, a wild and gregarious joker. These wines embody the best of the Sicilian landscape and warm southern character, resulting in wines brim-full of freshness and flavour. The Nero d’Avola is crafted from hand-harvested grapes from the hills surrounding the town of Marsala. It truly reflects the best characteristics of this varietal, the king of Sicilian grapes. The Grillo is fresh, bright and easy-drinking, the perfect accompaniment to lighter pasta dishes and fish, especially spaghetti alla vongole where the saltiness of the clams really brings out the Grillo’s citrus quality. These wines are certified organic as of 2019, and represents tunning value for money.
VINEYARD & VINIFICATION
Handpicked grapes grown in medium-textured soils, with a southwest exposure to optimize sunlight. After harvest, the grapes undergo maceration and fermentation using selected yeasts in temperature ontrolled stainless steel tanks for 10 to 15 days. The wine is then refined in steel tanks for an additional 3 to 4 months, ensuring clarity and balance before bottling.
